I have one Avet, the MXL 2speed. I love it, bulletproof as they say.

Which one did you go for? Have you had other Avets?

I'm looking possibly to add another this season. The Avet JX 2speed model would be where I lean for more capacity, but also looking at some Daiwa Saltists.

Any thoughts on the Daiwa Saltists?

Last year we had one 6hour drift with bluefin coming over the rails every ~10 mins. Many of those went over 50#s (a few up to 80#), but my biggest was ~40#. After 4 of those and one breakoff, I took a two hour break, in the middle of the bite  :huh  I wasn't in shape or prepared for that and two were brought in on Penn 500 (jigmaster) ouch. Arms burned and back hurt lol.

The tightwad in me hates to pay a lot of $ for anomalies like this, but it's also frustrating to spend the $ on a 2.5 day trip and sit in the galley during a hot bite. Although,  I realized it would be more meat than I'd need. I guess that's a good situation to be in, may we all be lucky enough to have those every now and then.

Was back out yesterday fishing another of the Finger Lakes, Conesus.  The wind was a major pain in the #&@ and I was totally out fished by my partner, but I did catch the big one for the day.   :)

Hooked into a decent pike too, although he completely trashed my boat trying to get him unhooked.

Just checked into this thread. Anyone fish at Guntersville lake in Alabama?  Preferably bass.  I just started and I'm hooked. Even pulled out an old boat from the woods and almost have it water ready. Just have to pass the stupid license test.

Good eye, it was 6 lbs 8 oz.  My best so far.  Going back to same lake Saturday to chase 'em again, hopefully the cold front passing through doesn't shut 'em down.

I was going to say 7lbs but my best was a 6.6 that I caught on a big Muskie lure in Oct. in the WI. northwoods. Im not a big Bass fisherman but a 6.8 is a quality fish to catch, and fun, anywheres.
