I watched the video, pretty simple design and build!  I'd change a couple of things though, first I'd get a 5 by 10 sheet of ply and make the bottom out of a single piece of wood.Second I'd use brass screws, those drywall screws wont last very long even if "sealed". I think if I was going to go to the trouble to build this,I'd likely wrap it in glass fiber, the bare minimum I'd tape the edge where the sides and bottom meet with a polyester tape and resin.

I think you'd have a more stable platform if you put more rocker into it,the bow could use more just to cut the water better and a little more in the stern would make it easier to manuver. The boat could use some gunnel strips too, maybe both inside and outside, this would give you a place to mount some oarlock and serve the same purpose as the strips placed on the bottom. Oh and lastly,I'd use slightly thicker strip running down the center,to give a sort of keel effect, this will help the craft tract better.

Caught my first Grennal/Bowfin this past weekend....or should I say got it to the boat and was glad to see it , once my bud was getting ready to grab it , get off the lure.

Ugly damn fish but MAN did it have some fight. Tore my spinner bait to shreds and bent it to hell and back.

Est. weight was about 7-8 pounds.

One of the most exciting fish there is to catch, as long as it's not on one of your favorite lures.  They absolutely destroy any tackle unfortunate enough to cross their path.  With a disposition like that and a face only a mother could love it's no wonder they've survived 150 million years or better.
To each their pwn.

Welcome to the club :) There's a reason they're my favorite fish.  You're almost better off with it getting away at the boat.  I don't know if you've ever caught a Chain Pickerel, but Bowfin tend to thrash as much as them in the boat, but with the added determination to ATTACK you rather than just ESCAPE from you! If you don't treat them with respect, you might wind up supporting your local doctor's office :D

Thanks FB, Cant take any credit though, mother nature deserves all the kudos  :aok

Kingfish mainly, but the occasional Tautog, Fluke (flounder) and Brown Shark arent uncommon. Im taking my boy out for Blues tommorow, about 20miles offshore. They have been catching 15 to 20lbrs  so steady  that some guys stopped fishing cause they were tired :D  Should be intresting on light tackle  :aok

Even though no game fish today, the dolphins put on quite a show, I watched a pod of roughly 30+ about 50 to 100 yards off the beach. They hung around for about an hr or so. I had my son and daughter reel in the surf poles they were so close. I didnt want one of them to think the bunker on my hook was a free meal.Couldnt live with myself if i would have hooked one. Absolutely beautiful creatures!!

Im here all week, hopefully more pics to post over the next few days

I actually hooked a dolphin who stole my grey snapper from the hook

He was unharmed, though.  :aok

Where are you, exactly?
