Pilot wepons..

Now, when I bail out of my plane as soon as I get shot at, I would like to have a browning 30 cal or like an mg 42, because from what wiki told me, thats what pilots had in real life. Now, if you are still reading this, my actual wish, I have noticed in the updated planes, the pilots have been updated to sport uniforms from their country of origin, when you do bail out (Hopefully only if you have actually been shot down! ) would is be possible to get country correct pistols/side arms? such as the No.2 revolver for British/Commonwealth, TT33 for USSR, Nambu for JP (not sure of the "type" designation for that one) and Walther p38 or p108 Luger for germany, I know I am missing a couple and some of the numbers/ names could be wrong, but I think it would be one of those little things that could make the game that much better tell me what you think guys.

well I was sort of thinking about it and for this wish to work, the bailed out pilots still all have US flight suits, so I take it that the bailed out pilots appearance has nothing to do with the plane he was flying? I thought this would be a simple wish but have just realised that it may be more difficult to do then I had first imagined

This would indeed be a good idea, and would add realism to the game. But out of the percentage of people who actually get a chance to bail out how many wait until they reach the ground to end sorti? and out of thous who actually wait until they reach the ground how many actually do something on the ground besides end sorti?
It's a good thing to have bust I don't think that's it's practical to make it.

I' be curious as to where you are seeing stories of pilots shot down lugging around Browning 30 cal machine guns or MG 42s?  Pistols were the general rule, with the occasional Tommy gun or modified carbine snuck in.

I think you missed the sarcasm.

I agree with MachFly, this would be cool, but it needs to be accompanied by many other changes to that aspect of the game that probably isn't on the near future docket.

I'v seen documentaries that show Ju88 crews had an extra machine gun, or used one of the rear guns, (which were very easy to take out of the mount) just in case they had to bail out or ditch and were behind enemy lines. I'm sure other bomber crews had other means. Even heard about lanc crews opening the bomb bay doors and shooting at enemy night fighters with sten guns. I don't know if that ever happened but sounds cool. I doubt a fighter pilot could unmount a gun from their plane without some sort of toolset.


I'm not agreeing that we should have that kind of stuff in game, but I'm sure if they had to ditch they would do everything you could to arm themselves.

     It wasn't even that heavy or cumbersome.  It was less than 1.1 meters in length and even with the cartridge bag
and gunsite weighed about 12.4 Kg <or 27.28 lbs>

I was kidding about the Mg's (note to self no sarcasm EVER!) all this wish is about is pilots having side arms that were standard issue for the country who's plane they were flying

rino u know what that little gun will do to your face the moment the chute opens?  not sure if you have seen movies of people jumping out of planes but they didnt have anything on their hands.  and in a fighter there's not much room to carry one either and if you had to bail the only thing you would grab was your butt out of there.  there wasnt any time to start looking around for a mg, you jumped with whatever was attached to you and fast.

mentioned bailing with said weapon.  I was just pointing out that some weapons could be easily
removed and used on the ground.

     Not every mission ends with a bailout ya know   For me, .ef works just fine and I get a shiny new
airplane
