CH Fighterstick / Pro Throttle Mode LEDs ?
« on: July 18, 2010, 07:42:05 AM »
Hi,

Can / would anybody please give a little insight as how to setup the mode function with the 3 multi-colored LEDs on the CH Pro Throttle and Fighterstick?  I am assuming they are mode functions.  The button just right of the trigger is how they were originally mapped.  I bought my CH stuff directly from the CH Store to get the latest and greatest.

I did download the CH Control Manager and looked at it, but it bypasses the Windows' calibration setup processes.  I looked at, then decided it was overkill and uninstalled it.

I setup my CH stuff 1st through Windows, then through Aces High.  But using CH's Control Manager has the potential of expanding their gear's usefulness.  A bit over my head; need to digest that in bite size chunks or find a better tutorial.

Why I ask relatively dumb questions is to maybe get leads to followup on.

Thanks for any help.

You need to use the CH Control Manager to get use of the modes.

I use CH control manager because it allows the set up to be used in so many different ways. However I sometimes struggle to remember what I put on all the various buttons in just one mode, so I never bothered setting up alternate commands in the other modes.

If you use the CH gear for any other games I think you will find the Control Manager is really worth looking at.

The text below comes form the CH CM help file:

The Control Manager supports "Modes" as a way to multiply the number of functions available from a particular control. The current Mode can be controlled using the ProThrottle or the FighterStick. In these cases there are three Modes. One of the buttons on the device cycle through the three Modes and three LED indicators on the unit which show the particular Mode under which the map is currently operating.

The Mode can also be controlled via the Control Manager Scripting. In this case there are four modes available, but there is no indicator to show under which particular mode the map is operating. Selecting Mode via the CMS is most easily done using one 4-way Hat switch, giving access to any particular mode immediately. For more information on controlling the mode via the CMS, see the section on CMS scripting.

You can use AH mapping to select any mode you want. I would use a hat/rocker switch
to be able to change your mode on the um.. fly.. you can map a button to say mode 3 but
you will have to map another button to go back to mode 1.. You will find Mode Controls in the Global settings.
You can download CH Control Manager for Dummies v.III at The CH Hanger, for more info, but the AH mapping is easier
at least for me it is...

As I was recently shown (even us old dogs can learn a few tricks)

While in Mode 1 set one button to go to Mode 3.

Then in Mode 3 you set the SAME button to go back to Mode 1.

This way you only use one button.

OK to avoid confusing the OP

AH has a range of Modes you can use. These are nothing to do with the mode LED's on the CH gear. I know a lot of people use AH mapping because it is easy to use.

CH has the Control Manager software (that came on disc with his new gear). The CH gear LED's do nothing unless you are mapping through the Control Manager Software. The beauty of using the Control Manager is when you also use your gear for other games. I have even set mine to play AV8b Harrier assault. Because of the Control Manager mapping I am able to play that old DOS game with my CH setup assigning everything to stick/buttons/throttle/pedals as I would in AH.

CH Control Manager for Dummies v.III sounds like a good idea since the Control Manager involves some reading up on to use it properly.
