Base Identity
« on: July 20, 2010, 01:35:03 AM »
During a recent evening of watching Nits get steamrolled we lost 4-5 bases in the span of perhaps an hour or two.  It occurred to me in that flurry of activity that it would be nice for SA purposes to have base capture notifications not only announce which country won a base but also who it was won from.  Obviously can be done a number of ways but bottom line is to get a feel for the course of the MA war without looking up fields that generally have no sequence to them on the map.  :salute

You're right, I can always assume the field taken was Nit... :lol

If you care you probably know who's field it was.
If you don't care, your probably not even going to read.

Actually, I'm going to +1 this request.

I think it's a completely reasonable request. Look, I don't have the map memorized, and I DON'T know who owns what base at any given time by memory. If I am flying defense of a base that's under attack, and see notices that 2 other bases are taken, that have close numbers (such as A17, V19), and notice both are the same country, I may move across to help defend there. Normally on seeing those messages I only pay attention to what I'm immediately focused on (either the base I'm attacking, or defending), and this would definitely be a nice bit of info to help give an overall sense to how it's going.

Sorry oak, I fail to see how this one is an epic failure. Perhaps if he had said that drag in AH was not modelled....

People ignore "Alert A-1" text messages as it is, still.

Accomplish something through your own actions.  If you're that interested, open your map and look.  I don't think you're that interested.  Mildly curious perhaps, but that's all.

I wish someone would read the BB for me and type my dictated response.  It's too hard to do it myself.

This has been asked for before, but I agree, I think it's a reasonable request.

Don't care enough. What real difference does it make what country got what base taken from them? The map is pretty self explanatory when you look at it.

I think it's a worthy request and would be very easy to implement (compared to other coading projects).

It wouldn't affect game-play one way or the other, nor would it force a certain game-play on someone else.

If someone enjoys it, they might as well implement it.

I bet 90% of the bases that have been capture, the formal country never made any effort trying to get it back with in a hour.

How about instead of "no" I say "not necessary".

I think of it as arena SA.  I do it the hard way.  Open the clipboard and search the map.

I didn't call anybody lazy... Hmmmm....

If it's across the street (i.e. hit ESC to open the clipboard and look at the map) absolutely.

I agree that many people are too lazy today, and don't do the work themselves.  But this isn't like doing your own research, it's just a convenience thing.  I press ESC, zoom out, and look myself; but sometimes it's just a pain, when there are multiple fronts, the fields aren't in great order and the map is just generally messy.

Just because YOU don't care who took it doesn't mean NOBODY cares.
