really, what difference does it make.. You can have it mapped, I can hit ctrl-d.. why shouldn't it just remember if it's on or off between sorties?
we have auto-record of films.. same thing.. just as easy to map a key or hit the keystroke.. its handy to have it automagically on all the time, some of us might think.
I suppose the only time it would actually become intrusive you would probably be on fire hurtling towards the ground.
Otherwise, all of a sudden, half your screen is covered in damage messages. May make it difficult to see.
I don't recall how auto-filming gets in the way of your view until you stop the film, auto or not.
My point is, you can turn it on now and if you forget, unlike filming, you're not going to miss anything. You can't turn it on "too late".
If they want to take the time to program another addition to the flight options list then more power to them.
