Thank You
« on: July 22, 2010, 11:20:57 PM »
While I am sure there are those who do not like various aspects of the latest patch...  I would like to take a moment to express how thrilled I am at what I have seen so far.  New base and town layouts have been a long time coming.  And while the base structures are impressive, what I find the most overwhelming is the new town.  Not only is it amazingly detailed, it is HUGE!  As we found out tonight, teammates can be on the ground in town, and not be able to see each other's icons due to buildings and terrain.  You can actually get lost in town now!  Narrow streets, bridges, better hedgerows...  well done.

The street names are a hoot!  Thanks for that too.  And the map room with the flag is a nice touch.  While the days of taking bases are not going away, the amount of time, skill, and number of players it will require to do so has certainly increased.  This is a VERY good thing.  Taking a town SHOULD be a challenge in and of itself... and with the countless places to hide a tank in town, it will be downright dangerous if you go at it unprepared.

The beefing up of the ports and vehicle bases is great as well.  We saw tonight that the 17 pounders make a huge difference.  I saw several one shot kills on inbound tanks tonight.

Finally... while the new sound set up will take a little getting used to (gonna have to manually edit the siren though...) I never played with my cockpit sounds turned down so I could hear nearby gv's or planes.  I know some did... and I suspect that may be part of the reason we can no longer do that.  Or.. I may be totally wrong.  But anyway, the sounds are great.  Much deeper and fuller than before.  Very nice.

That about sums it up for me... Oh... and my frame rate used to dip down around 45 from time to time.  I was at a rock solid 60 all night tonight.  So something got better there too.

Thanks HTC... very well done.

Totally agree AKP, easy endless field rolling is going to be a thing of the past.

A very large step forward on several fronts.

<S> HTC keep it up.

We get to explore a whole new world, and I think that's fun for inquisitive people who aren't stuck in their ways. There are always a few folks who hyperventilate over ("OMG! Something Different!") changes, but I trust this new direction will be successful and positive for the great majority of players.

I'm confident some relief will be found on the sound issues, either workarounds or perhaps options from HTC, that will make adjusting easier.

Towns are awesome, +1 to the street names, was ROFL last night reading them.

Although, I wonder why they let Hitech name them, they are all misspelled.  :headscratch:

Very Kool layout - will have to re-learn my bomb run set up and targeting - totally lost last night - even on the base not to mention town - I like it  :aok - now lets not discuss the sound set-up I do believe like with any roll out there will be issues - so I'm sure HiTech is on it.
GOOD JOB on the new layout  :rock
PS-fix strats next (more and a little closer to reach out and touch) and then.......and then...... as you know HiTech the list is endless

Is your frame rate at 60 now? Mine went from 60 down to around 49.

Well done, I think it will be a big improvement, and to capture bases might require a little planning now.  I love the layout of the town.  I think the sound system may need to be tweeked a bit, but I am sure it will be worked out over time :rock
