Towns look nice
« on: July 23, 2010, 11:49:39 PM »
However in all my years flying these games, I never felt as bugged eyed as I did tonight when I logged. The blown bldgs look too much like undamaged ones on my end. Dont think ill be doing much town stuff in the future.

Same here, flew over a town 3 times because I couldn't tell if they were down or not.

The towns, and bases, look fantastic!  I just drove an Lvt into a town for the first time with troops.  It was awesome navigating the roads, hedge rows, and hills trying to find my way.  I was lost at first until a squadie told me to look for road signs.  Sure enough HoEr street....  then a sign "HQ -->......

Once I found my way, I wanted confirmation the town was down.  It took about 3 minutes with 4 plus planes buzzing around to ensure it was down.  I'm certain that will be easier once we all learn the layout better, but it was manageable and a ton of fun!

The town does look cool. It's more realistic but also harder to take down (maybe a good thing). Although not being able to tell from the air if buildings are down may not be a good thing.

Very disappointing...

I managed to stick my head through the door of the ho-house, and there was nothing in there but sky ...  :cry

Now how could you do that, just mark buildings to remember as you go on each different road.

And if you still get lost, just take an airplane next time  :D.

so... people are afraid of learning new things as well as not liking learning curves?  Hmm.   :headscratch:

So how did you guys do it when you first started playing AH?

Fire, black smoke, grey smoke, and white smoke would help determine what's down and how long it's been down.

Careful what you wish for, if they implemented that you'd be right back here saying that the smoke is blocking your ability to see if buildings are up or not.

Id just like some glowing coals in the blown houses. I just cant tell if they are wrecked or not. Thats flying slow directly over them. Its not about "learning" something, its just tuff to see the difference.
