Flag in town
« on: July 24, 2010, 10:16:31 PM »
How about as buildings get destroyed, the flag either goes up the pole,or down the pole..and when it has reached the top or bottom,we know all buildings are down in town..

Now before you say nay, remember,,more people may be watching the pole, and not paying attention to buildings, and the capture may not happen..Just a thought off the cuff. :bolt:

I like this idea.  Is the flag near the maproom?  Maybe as each troop enters the map room the flag moves down the pole a bit, and when all 10 get in it pops a new flag with the victorious country's chess piece on it.  Gives ya a visual cue of how many more troops are needed.
To each their pwn.

Or we can leave it like it is and make you do some work to take the base... Hmmm I like that idea. WTG HTC  :aok

I've been thinking about posting this in the wishlist thread for a couple months.  I'd like each country to have its own simple flag at the maproom, just a solid color with the appropriate chess piece.  Have it as a simple animation like the windmills.  When the town is captured, the flag goes down and the new one comes up.  I think it would be a neat addition, and history proves that people will fight harder when they have their flag involved. :salute

Or have the logo of the squadron that captured that base on the flag waving above the town, or perhaps below the country's flag.

Like the idea of the flag, but having the logo of the squad that got it, not sure if ppl really care about who.

The OP wanted the flag to move down as each building was destroyed. That would mean if one building was left up it would be easy to tell. The days of m3 dropping troops with one building up would be over.

+1 on the flag near the maproom and change if a country captures it.

-1 on the flag determining if the town is down or not. If you are about to take a town and want to be sure, have someone ditch their wirble and come back and do a fly-by, or take the chance and do it yourself if you have time.

The new setup is great because you if you want that base, you are going to need to work for it. It is going to take a lot of communiciation.
Having it go up/down or whatever to tell you if the town is down and means you are the only one there. Doing so will just promote milkrunning and WTG ME for taking an undefended field.

I like raising the victorious country flag over town idea.  There are many creative players that could submit some nice designs and animations.

It is true,I wanted the flag,as I origianlly posted to go down as buildings were destroyed,to give us a clue as to when the town was down.I just thought it sounded like a neat idea to have the flag be used in some way..As town goes down, have it also go down,as town gets taken, have it as ranger said,go back up with the winning sides icon..Either way I think it should be used somehow..

Flag up-bldg up, flag down-bldgs all down.

Simple, but I agree with the oTRALFZo, if it's down, might be hard to find. (for some)
I think we need to just work harder to make the capture, IMO. It's a needed dynamic in the game to prevent a side from rolling over another country and resetting at will!
