A big thanks to HTC
« on: July 25, 2010, 09:42:05 AM »
I just wanted to say thank you to the three guys I know have put up with a lot from me . First HiTech , thank you for reconsidering a design decision . With no real qualifications in flying or engineering you had no real reason to even listen to me . Second to Pyro , thank you for listening and trying my test , and not least of all for putting it on the list for the next version . Third to Skuzzy , for putting up with the email , pm and posting bombardment for the last 2 years, truly you are a patient man . Also a thanks to a guy named Baumler , I was told you had  a key roll as well . My deepest and most sincere thanks to all of HTC .

I don't think I helped with this much (if at all) but you're welcome. I hope it's working better (more accurately at least) now.

The way it was before . Buffet would have its onset just before a buffet would begin . This made it almost impossible to ride the edge . Right at the time finite control was most important , the "stall" effect made it impossible to have .

Yes there was an interesting "feedback loop" that I saw in the control input that really hampered using force feedback.  Any you're right about the need for an "airspeed" force. One particular aspect I've been trying to research is "control force reversal" when you get into/near compressibility. I think that would add a very interesting force as well.

Given how any "buffet" type force winds up causing an aileron or elevator flutter, I think that for now they should be not be used by most players (unless you don't mind being at a disadvantage).

Well I think it isn't really a disadvantage the way it is now . The way it is now when I am in a tight low speed turn , I pull hard enough to make the stall buzzer scream . When I go to far , at exactly the right moment the stick shakes in my hand . I ease up just a fraction , until the shake goes away . I know I am turning better . It may be only a fraction of a second , but I am processing tactile information faster then visual or audio . I think that the buffet effect how it works now is a real help . I think for new players it would be a huge help .

Dang, I thought this stick was 10' but its only 8.
Arggg not worth it I think I'll stay out of it.  :)

Dicho totally agree about Baumer, he's so far beyond class act that we should be calling him Platinum.
And I think HT and Pyro have figured that out as well.

Keep on doing what your doing Baumer, we appreciate it!

Best of luck to ya Hlbly
