Landing Gear Delay

In the Da the other day, I noticed that when landing, as soon as I hit the gear switch, I could land on gear, even though they were not displayed as down from external views. Looked like I was landing on air.

Noticed this years ago. Have changed my mind from sliding in to rearming when the threat is killed just before I touched runway. I have even had the gear push the plane up when I was lower that their extended length.
I would not mind if the gear collapsed due to not being fully extended.
