show me any fashion/glamour shot that hasnt been shopped ... its like finding a record that hasnt been protooled ...


edit: btw metal is easily the worst culprit for protooling, unless you see metallica live youre listening to machines not musicians.

what do you mean by "protooled"? is that like touching it up to make it sound better?

 if so, i don't think johnny cash's albums were. he sounded just as good, if not better live, then he did on his records.

yeah exactly, its like photoshop for audio. singer out of tune? coupla settings in autotune plugin and hes got perfect pitch. think you're hearing hatfields guitar on your fav record? youre not. youre hearing each note as a sample, meticulously massaged into place and pitch etc, probably mixed with a bunch of other samples from older recordings, probably all his (well maybe). each note could come from any part of the track he layed down, or from any of the tracks he laid down, or from a different song or ... who knows where. think hollywoods fake? modern music production makes Pearl Harbour look like a documentary film shot in realtime. </rant>

yea...that's most of why i'm not a big fan of going to concerts. most bands sound like crap live, but sound incredibly on their records.

 i did see aerosmith back in the 80's, and they were good live. saw johnny cash when i was very young....and again, sounded good. saw tool back in the early 2000's, and thought they sucked. saw elo, and they weren't what i expected at all..............

 mom goes to some country and western concerts with my brother when she's in florida, and always complains of her headache afterwards.

I used to feel the same way a long time ago, not in a racist sort of a way at all, but I just wasn't that attracted to black women.  And now I find myself in a long term live in relationship with one.  Life is funny sometimes how it all works out.
