Went from PII400 to PIII850
« on: May 17, 2001, 09:59:00 PM »
Hiya all,

Let me thank you all for everyone helping me upgrade my Bios.  I have Bh6 V1.01 MB just today I bought CPU PIII 850E and swapped it wiht my old PII400.  I saw big difference in my Frame rate IN AH went from high 30's to high 50's.  What i got for video card is TNT2 Ultra 32mb think this might be my bottleneck to benefit more out of this CPU.  Also going to faster HD will help my FR such as getting 40Gig IBM 75GXP curretnly own the Western 8Gig.  Any suggestion is welcome.

Thank You

Bash

I will OC it when i get new video card could go up too 1Gh with current fan that came with CPU.

The Tnt2 is the bottleneck now for sure.  I'd get a GF2 GTS right now.  The prices have dropped low enough to the point that an MX is not the bargain it once was.

The IBM drive will help too, but mainly your whole system will gain some speed with that one.  AH will still be bottlenecked by the TNT2.

People are confusing application load speed to game FPS. Getting a faster HD wont give you even 1 frame more speed. It will only enable you to load AH in memory faster.

...but the IBM DeskStar series are such sweet HD - deafly quiet and oh sooo fast (cheap too!). Just go and get the sucker - you won't need to think about HD space for quite a while ...

Agreed, never though swapping one 32 meg card (TNT2 Ultra) for another 32 meg card (GeForce 2 "Pro", same as GTS except you can O/C it) would make a difference.  Where the biggest diff is , the smoke of fields, no more slide show, and I can site a tank in sitting on a smokey field while maintaining about 38 FPS.

Very happy with Geforce 2 "Pro" 32 meg card.
