Switching Auto insurance...

Any recommendations?

Currently I have Gieco, and my rates went from $120 to $170 in a month with no changes in policy, claims or violations.
Nationwide is offering $97/month.
Progressive is $220 month.
Several other companies instant quotes are not available in my are or are just not going through...

So I'm not looking for other to do the research for me, what I want to know is what are your experiences with auto insurers? Who have you had? Any good/bad experiences? Also cheap is good

Are you Prior Service?  You could try USAA if so.  Also, check on both State Farm, and a Company called Dairyland County Mutual Insurance ( or something to that effect).  Dairyland i believe was based in Wisconsin, but they insured me for my motorcycle in TX.  State Farm should be availible in your area as well.

My primary insurance is with USAA.  I've had them since i was Active Duty and continue to use them.

I have also used State Farm and was very happy with their rates and service as well.

State Farm rocks I have 2 houses, 3 cars and 2 trucks insured by them and not once have they ever gave me a problem. Our new car was wrecked twice, (hit a pole and a deer) and both times they just said, "take it to your bodyshop and we'll take it from there".  

I pay about 600 a month

I suggest USAA to anyone who has ever served in the military, I dont think they give good rates to civs

I just switched to TWG.. don't know if they're available in your area but same coverage for half the price on car, comparable on the home, and dirt cheap on life.  I guess they don't know about the whole AH and die 20 times a night thing

  cheap is not allways better,alot of times paying less means the differance between aftermarket/LKQ vs new OEM parts being used on your car.
    state farm is the best as far as repair quality standerds, followed closely by progressive.
 allways make sure you compair policy coverage before switching,you may not get the same for each provider.

Sometimes I think they give quotes by drawing numbers out of a hat.  Progressive has always been the best price for me by far cheaper than Geico. The one time I did have to file a claim it was simple and easy.  They said "take it wherever you want, get an estimate and call us back".  The guy showed up in the claims mobile the next day, took a look at the car, went into his truck and printed out a check.  He handed me the check, I looked at it, laughed, and handed it back.  He went and printed out one that was satisfactory and that was it.  The strange thing is starting with the next bill after the accident my premium dropped about $100 bucks a month.

If anyone is interested, over in uk you'd be mad not to switch insurance companies every year, you save LOTS of money. I always use an internet search engine first, then ring the company direct to save paying the internet company's commission.

Incidently I changed cars half way through an existing policy. The remaining 6 months should have been an extra £20 per month, the money grabbers added on the previous 6 months totalling an extra £40 per month. I'm switching again in August saving £400 per year. Its the way to go.

Stay away from Allstate is the best advice so far, Home and or Auto.

Liberty Mutual here and very happy with them

Or dependents of military or prior military, but it may depend on rank and what state.

I've had USAA for 25 years now -- my Dad left as a Major in the Army after Vietnam, and Officer's families and children could get USAA.  Now my wife is eligible.
