What's for favorite bait/lure?
« on: July 31, 2010, 03:16:42 PM »
Personally, I just use crawlers. When I had the lazy Ike I had some success with that for bass. BTW, plan on going fishing soon and will get the Lazy Ike.

Depends with me. Time of day and water conditions usually pick my lures for me. Lazy Ike always my favorite if the bass are mid to top level. Top water strikers I'll use a JitterBug or Hola popper if there's alot of top cover like moss, lilly pads or cattails. A Lucky13 is also good for that.
Catfish, I'll use fresh shad and worms in the spring. After that it's stink bait and liver. Crappie, Bluegill and Walleye, I like spinner baits and minnows. Crappie seem to bite the best around here on minnows in late spring as they are spawning then.
The colors of the lures will make a big difference too. The more cloud cover, the brighter the lure I'll use. My 4 basic colors I like are white, green, red and yellow.

My brother-N-law swears by buzz baits. Personally I can't stand a lure that leaves a wake  :lol But he has more big fish on the wall then I do.

An all Black eggsucking leech, with an orange egg!

It's basically a wooleybugger with a small egg tied on the head,I just scale them to the size of fish I'm after.

I've tied afew with 2 long shank hooks that I wire together the resulting monsters can be 6 inches long. These I tye for Pike but could be used on Muskie or If you like use saltwater hooks and tye them for Billfish, tuna or just about anything that swims.

I carry a fly box that has nothing but this "type" of fly some are only 1/2 an inch, but if it swims this fly catches it.

It's actually a really old fly that the English flyfishermen have used for centuries, though I've heard they call it "the dogs bollocks" as thats supposedly were the hair to tye it was taken from!!!! :D

My favorite fishing item is a M80, guaranteed to catch something.

Actually the best lure I found is corn.

The Flying Lure...very versatile and extremely effective in still water, even in weeds where no other lure will go. For streams/rivers, live bait or stink bait over any lure.
