Where do they draw the line on smartphones
« on: August 01, 2010, 08:31:36 PM »
http://www.phonearena.com/htmls/Snapdragon-vs.-Hummingbird-vs.-OMAP---the-mobile-CPU-war-beyond-1GHz-article-a_12546.html

Article is about the processors being used in smart phones and the future of the processors.

While I am eagerly waiting a HTC Android smart phone with a QWERTY keyboard for AT&T to replace my tilt, when will they draw a line on the smart phones on how advanced they will become.  I mean honestly they are starting to talk about the dual core phones coming out late this winter or early next year.

Where will the line be drawn to have a balance between advancement of the phones and the amount of battery life it will have.

Battery life will be unimportant when they implant the biochemical based processor into your auditory nerve so you never have to worry about someone else listening in on your call when they are sitting next to you.

look up the Nokia patent on recharging batteries by simply walking with the phone in your pocket, or any movement. Piezoelectric or some damn thing... IMHO it will revolutionise phones.

It's one huge patent to have, rightful for the best phones I ever owned. Too bad they don't have a stronger presence in the US... they are the biggest cell phone maker in the world.

Why would they draw a line anywhere?

I hope they don't draw the line, I want a phone with 60 cores each running 5Ghz.  It will integrate with my mind and I won't use the interface of the phone for any commands, things will simply be.

I read today that they are going to link them to your bank account.

And you will "swipe" your phone instead of your credit/debit card, which by the way this article reads is going to become extinct fairly soon.

Looks like the line has been crossed here if you ask me.

There must also be a flyable computer available for Nefarious to do FSO. So he doesn't keep talking about it for eight and a half hours on Friday night!

The next gen droids will utilize the 1.6 Atom netbook processor.  That should be as fast as anyone would need for a phone.  But then...  I thought a TB hard drive was overkill too..
