Freeze` and pause`s, oh my.....

Ok...While I was on the 3 month FA freebie, I never had a screen freeze....Suddenly, last Sunday, I can`t go more then 5-10 minutes without screen freeze....(soon as I signed up and started paying for AH...Hmmmmm)....Under "process`s" there are 51! ongoing, and I don`t know which ones I can dump...CPU is between 0-3%....Re-formatting Windows XP?....I`m computer illiterate, and I`m sure that I will lose my setup and such....I have changed the graphic settings, but it still happens....So,  what happened?....Was this the August 1st kiss of death?....(sob)...help me...help me.....

In my "Hints and Tips" sticky, I try to cover this issue.  "Hints and Tips" also has some other suggestions which might help tame the background processes as well.

Trust me, none of this has anything to do with your subscribing.  It could be the two new viruses running about exploiting some holes in Windows.  They were bad enough Microsoft issued patches for them, out of cycle.
