A scoring question and a personal revelation

For anyone who is aware of the scoring system …

Revelation:  Any reference to “per Death” includes one half of the related disco total.  When death is in the denominator, the number is actually (Deaths + 0.5*Discos).

Been playing since tour 99, and just figured this out.


Question:  When a category, such as “Field Captures” is zero, what is the meaning of the number?  A current snapshot of my score has the following ranks:

Bomber Field Capture 1354
Attack Field Capture 1282
Vehicle Field Capture 1568

All are zero total.  Why are they different?  Is this because there are less people with attack ranks?  Certainly, it can’t mean that there are at least 1567 people with at least one vehicle base capture so far this tour.  It is an average? Or is it a count of people that have done some activity to score in a vehicle so far this tour, but have not made a field capture?

I don’t let them rule my life, but I do track scores and stats.  On a spreadsheet.  With graphs.    Yes, my geek is showing.

Bomber Field Capture it simply means your ranking is 1354, I.E 1353 people have done at least 1 field capture and you are tied at 1354 with all the people who have not done one.

Math time.

Late War Tour shows 8-1-10 as the start date.  Today is 8-6-10.  Lets be conservative and call it 6 days.  Between Vehicles and Bombers, there have been 1353 + 1567  = 2920 field captures in the tour, or approximately 486 per day in two arenas ... so 243 per arena per day... averaging roughly (very roughly) 10 field captures per hour.  That makes it a field capture every 6 minutes on average.

This does not take into account people with more than a single capture in either category.  The rate could be slightly faster.  It is already surprisingly frequent.

I may be crazy to contradict the guy who runs the game, but the first part of that -1353 people have bomber captures - doesn't seem possible. Right now 0 field captures in attack gives me a rank of 1282 - since you can't capture a field in attack, there can't be 1281 people who have done one, I must be tied with everyone who has any attack score at all. And there's no way there have been 2920 field captures 5 days into the tour, that's way too many. RufLeak, with respect, your math doesn't account for the difference in numbers between Blue and Pink, or the late night and early morning numbers - base takes don't slow in direct proportion to numbers, but they do slow down, and there is nowhere near a base take every 6 minutes at 5 a.m. in Blue. I don't think it's every six minutes even at 9 p.m. in Pink. And of course a number of people have multiple captures by now, so it would actually have to be even higher than that.

I suspect it's more like 200 people have done at least one bomber capture, they're all tied at 200, and all the people with zero are tied at 1354 because there are 1354 people who have bomber scores at this point in the tour. M3 captures are probably a bit higher.

I dont think thats what he said Loki. 1281 are probably the total number of people that have flown in that category. I think in fighter mode last month there were 4400 but it changes from month to month. Some people play only in special events and others only in early or mid war and so on.
