the sun will come out tomorrow
« on: August 07, 2010, 07:43:12 AM »

This picture doesn't do the event justice.  It was painfully bright and I keep my gamma setting kind of dark.

With the many concessions to gameplay over realism, is blinding glare something we want in the game?
There is no night, wind, weather of any kind - which is fine btw.  Yet we have a super-sized sun that causes squinting so bad, that I am contemplating keeping sunglasses by the computer for such occasions.  Does anyone actually like having the sun glare in the game?  :headscratch:

I wouldn't mind it if it just stayed at high noon. No point in it even moving if there isn't night.

"Beware the Hun in the sun!"

Ever tried shooting down an attacker coming out of the sun?

So important, it's Boelcke's Rule #1.

If possible, keep the sun behind you.

Only game I know where the sun does what it's supposed to.

Well done HTC!

+1 Yes, get rid of the glare.

The lighting effects are backward as well. When looking at the Sun objects should appear dimmer, not brighter. Probably need a "-" somewhere in the programming.

If I had a vote, which we don't, mine is "Keep it".

And since there's no way to increase the amount of light from your monitor to approach the intensity of looking into the sun, then having the washed out effect is a fine representation of the fact that looking toward the sun makes it hard to see.

Yeah, just change it at Christmas.

Adjust your head position to block the sun by a canopy member.
Climb out on a slightly different heading.
With no wind take off on a different runway heading.

Possibilities are endless. BTW I would love limited night times back.

I wan't to know why my pilot can put goggles on? I mean, even the guy on the home page jumping out of his cockpit has a pair of goggles on the top of his head. :headscratch:

didn't your mother ever teach you to not look directly into the sun?

Pull back on the stick slightly let the engine block the worst of it.

I suppose some lighting effects should be adjusted in regards to the sun. However, I use TrackIR and the sun is usually not an issue like it was when I was using hat switch a few months ago. Perhaps a 3D remodel of the sun, and sun glare would be nice as well.

If you guys have the money, I recommend getting TrackIR, not necessarily for the sun, but for the joy of hands free head movement.
