Mounted the Plasma on the wall
« on: August 08, 2010, 11:57:14 PM »
Last weekend I mounted the 50" plasma on the wall.  Since I was doing this I also ran an electrical outlet so the TV cold get power, HDMI wall box, Cat5e wall jack and speaker connections.  Hate to see wires coming from anything  :aok .

Be very aware of the temperature that the screen gets from the fireplace!!

Make sure that the top of the screen is several inches behind the outer edge of the mantle.

I sell fireplaces and home theatre equipment and have heard many horror stories of the top half of Tvs being destroyed from fireplaces.

Alot of people will mount their tvs angled down toward the seating area, which will put the top half of the tv directly in the path of the heat rising from the front of the fireplace.

Just sayin.

Looks great!

My first thought was, "hmmm I should probably paint that railing when I get home today."   :lol

Looks good, td!  The fireplace does make me a bit nervous though, unless it is only decorative.

Don't forget to include a couple of ventilation holes (one on top/bottom) for anything enclosed. Electronics will last many times longer when keep cool.

I have the plasma in the bedroom mounted on top of the 20 year old Zenith console. It's called Redneck Chic.
