when calibrating an axis that is mapped to the analog trim controls, unless you physically center the slider during the final phase of the calibration, you get a very "strange" calibration. The issue is that the sliders are more like the brake axys on the rudder pedals/Throttle/RPM, they don't actually have a center position. This means that you have to kind of gink with it.
They should be like the brake axis/throttle/RPM - where the center point doesn't impact calibration or operation.
