« on: May 31, 2001, 06:16:00 PM »
I downloaded some drivers for my sound card to try and get rid of a problem i was having with roger wilco. i think i downloaded the wrong ones or something because now i cant run aces high or any programs that have sound. when i go to device manager it has a caution flag over my icon for my sound card.
i have a soundMAX digital intergraded audio soundcard, windox ME and i dont know what my motherboard is :/.
I downloaded SND9x010 drivers  here
would someone please tell me how to get my old drivers back or where i can get some new ones?
I'm already going through AH withdraws and it has only been 2 hours. please help!

Try finding the correct drivers.  Now go into the device manager and find the listing for the soundcard and click it once, then click the remove button.  You will get a warning then be forced to restart.  Once the computer boots back up it should detect the soundcard and then you can load the correct drivers.

Your only other option is to boot the system in dos mode and type regedit \restore  this should give you a list of the last 5 or so registry backups.  You can pick one from the list from before you loaded the new messed up drivers.  (This may not be possible with Winblows ME - the worst piece of software trash ever released by M$.   )

The brand of video card doesn't really make a difference.  I do have an Asus V7700 Deluxe, which is a GF 2 GTS.  Any of the major brands of video cards is fine, because you will usually load the detonator reference drivers anyway.
