squelch or not?
« on: August 09, 2010, 07:24:29 AM »
If i understand not too bad (!) squelch function prevents somebody to be listened by the rest of community.

Facts show that many young people are squelched cause their voice only .

This is unacceptable! And out of law!

They cannot be squelch for their voice only!!   :O

Can HTC solve this problem with a more flexible squelch function or something else?

(For example, a function such that it doesn't push the squelched voice out from the rest of community but out only for
the player who makes the squelch.)

Squelch comand only makes it so YOU can not see or hear them.   The rest of the community can see and hear them just fine.

so.......what you're saying, is that you have one of two things going on.

 1) your voice is extremely irritating, and you've been squelched due to this.
 2) you talk too much, and you've been squelched due to this.

 which one was it?

Players have a right to squelch for whatever reason they chose.  I have even squelched people from my own squad (and probably been squelched a time or two myself).  Sometimes a person just does not want to hear all that crap.

1.  How is that (how did you put it...)  "Out of Law" ?    :huh

2.  Age is usually not the determining factor in squelch.  Though I must admit that I do frequently squelch young players.  Not because of their age or the pitch of their voice.  I cannot stand listening to the play-by-play of every trigger pull and wing bank of THEIR game.  I do NOT want to be mean to them, so I squelch.  After he is silent, I can then resume listening to my squadies who are actually passing on useful information.

3.  Since you are bringing up "out of law"... Maybe some of us think it is "out of law" for you to come in and try to dictate what we can and cannot do in game.  What's worse is the fact that you clearly don't even know what you are talking about before you jump up on your soap-box to preach about it.    :headscratch:

I tend to squelch more for filling the text buffer with ramblings or garbage more than for voice reasons.  Squeeks can sometime be fun to listen too and laugh at.

I think he is confusing "squelch" with "mute".

uumm....it IS ok to tell someone to shut the hell up. they don't have to listen though, thus the squelch.

15 minutes in the same airspace with triple5 and Lulu would be all up in the squelch button.  :lol

I see many players that squelch young people.

Thoose players say: "young people are squeekers!" or "You squeekers".

It is not true 9 times on 10.

This is not right!

This is a problem!

I will decide to squelch ramdomly 15 players or more for every so called squeekers squelch.

Feel free to squelch all you like.  Please don't pick them at random -- be sure to add me to the list because you really don't want to hear what I think of you.  It has been explained that squelch ONLY AFFECTS YOUR ABILITY TO HEAR/READ THAT PERSON.  Who you squelch makes NO DIFFERENCE to the rest of the community.  So the fact that you re-post with this comment, means that you are trolling for a pointless argument; or you are an IDIOT (or more likely BOTH).

So I say again for those in the cheap-seats (that means you lulu)... SQUELCH ME FIRST!
