Torpedo Tubes on the Destroyers
« on: August 09, 2010, 10:19:31 AM »
I know This request will probably be declined, but what about the idea of being able to use the Torpedo Tubes on the Destroyers. This is Something that will not be used every day but a good back up when your Carrier has be sunk and the enemy Carrier is next to your Task Group. Ive seen many times when we lose our carrier with the enemy TG next to ours. I know that we have PT boats with torpedoes but, what if the Enemy Task Group was next to yours, you would be Eliminated before your able to Retaliate.

Yes you would still have the Destroyer's 5 inch to hit back. Firing the Torpedoes will add to the barrage and give the enemy something else to worry about besides getting hit by the 5 inchers.

The 5-inch gun was of limited use against larger cruisers and battleships.  The destroyers primary anti-ship weapon was the torpedo.  Few might have hit, but they did a lot of damage when they did hit.

Make it a mannable position just like the guns.  It'd come in handy at times.

Love it! This could also work in the "free-ranging" destroyer wish...
