Port Strat
« on: August 10, 2010, 04:21:12 PM »
I'm always looking for more strategic targets to bomb.  I proposed a mix of the old strat zoned system with the new system in this thread, but had this idea while reading another thread.

I would like to see large strategic ports.  Basically something with multiple ships, factories, buildings, etc.  Would work on a similar percent scale like other strat targets now.  Damaging the port strat would extend repair and downtime to CV groups of that country.  Obviously this could only work on certain maps.  So I envision large bomber missions or even slipping a CV near by and raiding the target.  I think port could be defended by more than just auto guns, shore batteries or manned guns as options too.

Just a quick idea.

If they added a port strat, that would be good grounds for a pearl harbour scenario

Would love to see more "stuff to bomb, which is worth the effort required."

Bombbbbbbbbbbb stuffffffffffffffffffffff
... missions were to be met by the commitment of alerted swarms of fighters, composed of Me 109's and Fw 190's, that were strategically based to protect industrial installations. The inferior capabilities of these fighters against the Mosquitoes made this a hopeless and uneconomical effort. 1.JD KTB

Yep, like that but a bigger and with more depth.  Perhaps similar to this port in layout:  :)

I've never targeted the ships at ports specifically but making those as targets also would add more depth.  Could provide for some nice eye candy to model some different ship damage and sinking, but I'm just brainstorming here.  Port strat could also effect resupply of water bases.  More meaningful convoys that leave from one or more strat ports across a map.
