I remember when sonic booms were heard all the damn time around my parents house down in central Alabama. The USN and USAF used to fly training missions low level and on AB all the time through the area. Talk about rattling grandmoms china cabinet when those big bellybutton Phantoms would come screaming through the valley and about 5 seconds later the sound would come following them through.

Used to watch mock dogfights over head all the time as well. We regularly had tankers and fighters hooking up in the area too. You could watch the whole process with binoculars when they flew the race track pattern up about 25k. Then the tanker would head out west and the mock dogfights would start again. Phantoms, A-7 Corsairs and Tomcats tangling it up big time...man it was sweet!

I hate posts like this.  Either tell him he's wrong, or tell him he's right but almost wrong.  And then post your proof.  But don't start the "I'm a bigger aircraft nerd than you" fight.

not intended for that.

i used to think that too, till i saw them fly at mcguire. i thought there was no way something that big or that heavy could turn tightly at all.

then the solo f15 fly. he did a max performance turn at "center stage" that would make a spitfire pile-it jealous.  :aok

Hmm wonder what happens when two 1500mph f-15s fly by a Cessna at close proximity?

Not exactly F15's here, but close enough...

It is interesting to note that the F15s were 150 miles away at the very moment they were needed.
Personally I see this as a HUGE weakness for CiC security.

They had better shore this up quickly before some enterprising haji suicider gets a rapid pipper on the CiC.

I've got a model rocket that requires clearance to fly.  This really doesn't surprise me all that much.

The same world where it takes 20mm Hispano fire and loses a flap?
