What is a JS "Spike"?

I believe I am now experiencing them!

After I calibrate and the line in the AH joystick calibration program are nice and level, every once in a while the level line will "jump" and create a "spike".  Just for about 250 msec.  It makes my plane jump too.

 Is this a JS "Spike"?

I also e-mailed CH Products about new pots (I cleaned the ones in there, but no joy) they told me to go to their spare parts site and order new ones.  $10 a piece!  That's $20.  I'd be better off buying a new Combatstick for $70!

What do you guys think?   Thanks!!

If ya got the money the combat stick is very nice, yup thats a spike alright, it's caused by a dirty pot which makes the puter think it just saw and infinite amount of resistance instead of say 500 ohms, so your moving the stick its approaching 499 ohms then zoom infinite resistance then back to say 525 ohms, thats why it jumps on ya, replacing is always better than cleaning pots if ya can, but if a new stick is in your future you won't be sorry!

Since I bought my m$ precision pro optical stick I've had no spikes whatsoever.. I'm more than pleased with its performance.

Actually its much better than I could dream of.

Actually tried the JS last night and ran clean. Weird!

I did take apart my JS pots and cleaned them.  I put it back together and it worked!!  I read a post by Seawulfe and his instructions were right on!!

Anyone need their pots cleaned?  It's not too difficult!
