More perks for more realism
« on: August 17, 2010, 10:29:47 PM »
This is going to be a three-in one wish.

1.) Have it possible to turn off the ammo counters.

2.) Have it possible to keep WEP on until your engine overheats instead of turning off by itself.

Why?

3.) Because this would factor into a realism perk multiplier. Stall limiter, auto take off, ammo counters, auto WEP, not being able to see your damaged list, disabling your GPS clipboard, no enemy icons, anything that helps you fly better than you normally would can contribute to a realism perk multiplier.

Each feature will contribute a 0.1 addition to a 1.0 multiplier, this multiplier will max out at 1.5. Each feature will have to be turned off before a sortie begins in order to contribute. For example you turn off stall limiter and auto take off, at the end of the sortie you initially gained 20 perks, well you turned off 2 factors so you now multiply the 20 perks by 1.2. You now got 24 perk points, 4 bonus perks for realism.

This will encourage players to fly more realistically and give the players a bonus for not using crutches to fly their planes.

Interesting idea, but wouldn't it just reward the better players as is?  Those who would benefit the most from this bonus already have thousands of perkies.

What about the planes that actually had ammo counters (of a sort)?

not me, i always miraculously run short of funds every 2-3 months and go on hiatus's from online and play other sims like il-2 1946 during those times

also, I wouldnt mind if it wasnt even a perk bonus, It would just be even better for immersion purposes.

Why penalize players for using the stall limiter?  The stall limiter is actually a learning tool to help players get used to the flight model and in no way gives anyone that uses it an advantage.

Who said anything about penalizing? They still receive the base perk points, and since there are many different factors that can max out the multiplier they can still use the stall limiter but eliminate 5 other factors. You decide which 5 factors you want to eliminate.

No, it will only multiply the perks you earned on the sortie, not your already gained perks from past sorties.

This will help those of us with low perk points to boost our ability to build them faster, as well as promote a more realistic fighting experience for AH

in a game were no one dies, the worst you could do is make it so they fly more "realisticly"

we have enough runners and gangers and spawncampers and vulch artists as it is.

why dont just say you want more perk points, i have a few thousand, never use them, have no need for them. you can have them anytime you want.  you should realize that the easiest it is to get perk points, the more the perk rides are gonna cost ya.  its called inflation.  btw in my rides i know when i run out of cannon, since i only shoot cannon, i have no use for bb's, so maybe if you only load cannon, more perk points? naw.

Not all planes would overheat while leaving WEP on ... they would just run until WEP ran itself out.
