Task Group resupply
« on: August 19, 2010, 10:29:32 AM »
Just a thought.  I'd like to have the ability to resupply the Task Groups.  Postwar, the TBM was converted to carry supplies to carriers.  I found this quote on Pilotfriend.com, "Other postwar conversions included...TBM-3R seven-seat Avengers for COD (Carrier On-board Delivery) of priority personnel or urgently needed supplies."

Maybe add an option to load field supplies, instead of a torp or bombs, in the bomb bay.  You'd actually have to land on the carrier to offload.  The supplies wouldn't repair the ships or bring ships back to life.  Rather, just bring the radar back up and repair guns.  Similar to running supplies by GV.  i.e. It would take several sorties or several aircraft to bring everything back up.  Again, just a thought.

What do you guys think? Pros? Cons?

Over time, a damaged CV will repair itself similiar to a base.  :salute

The intent I believe is to speed up the process like supplying bases does.

Repairing the radar and guns IS in fact repairing the ship and bringing it back to life. I think it's a bad idea as CVs are too gamey as it is.

I didn't mean to repair the damage (hit %) of the ship.  I'm certainly not an expert with coding.  But, it would seem possible to separate the two.  Not to mention, the potential swarms of TBM's heading to the carrier to resupply could make things interesting.  I don't believe that it would have a profound effect on game play.  But, enough so to make it more interesting for some.  :salute

Right, I understand, you want to be able to fly or drop field supplies on the deck of the CV to shorten the down time of the ACK guns and/or Radar, just like at a normal base.  :salute

Has anyone ever tried to do it with a goon to see if it takes?? Either by air dropping or landing and booting out? Gives something to try. :airplane:

Hate to be a downer, but it won't happen due to it being a postwar modification...

Still, I'd like to see someway of resupplying/repairing carrier groups.

What happens if you take a C47 and land it on the carrier and drop supplies?

A couple ballsy C47 pilots could do that.
