Any metal-heads out there?
« on: August 19, 2010, 01:33:56 PM »
Have you guys heard of Nightwish? They are a symphonic/power metal band from Finland. I have been having an addiction to listening to their music for the past year. Check em out:

"Wishmaster"

"Planet Hell"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ije5Y-a_5x8&feature=related

"The Siren"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RuqUoMfgMvM

"Amaranth"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z9MsW1b0QAA&feature=av2n

Are there any other good metal bands of this genre? Would like to check them out.

That's a first. I don't think I've heard anything like that. Pretty cool.

I currently have Wishmaster CD in my car.

It was a gift from about a 2 years ago, just can't ever go a month without cranking it up again.

I still prefer "old" Nightwish to "new" Nightwish.  Tarja just has it.

edit:

Demons and Wizards, although different, have a few good albums too.

Thanks, themaj!  :aok

I find this genre of metal is addicting to listen to. Blind Guardian is definitely an awesome sounding band. That Helloween song kinda reminds me of Iron Maiden.

Heard them a few years ago on YouTube. That wishmaster link was the first I ever saw of them and it was an instant favorite. Now I have all of their albums, Over the Hills and Far away single, and End of an Era DVD  :rock

They also opened me up to a ton of other amazing bands (almost all from Europe too, I hate American music).

Blind Guardian and Helloween have already been posted

Love Nightwish with a substantial portion of my heart.

But for Power Metal and Folk Metal I like Dragonforce and a PIRATE Metal band called Alestorm.

But all of these bands including Disturbed and Dragonforce 2 of my fave bands can go hang at the moment. IRON MAIDEN's THE FINAL FRONTIER.
