If you're already signed up to go online, just head to the Training Arena.  Even if there is no member of the AH Training Corps in there, many guys that hang out are generally willing to help and know plenty of good stuff.

To set up your joystick, try the training pages on http://trainers.hitechcreations.com/

Specifically this page

Welcome f35raptor. You're in for an intense experience! I hope it's as fun and as satisfying for you as it has been for me.

I created a set of free training videos for people in your situation. Please feel free to enjoy them here:

http://techvideoreview.com/FlightSimMovies/AcesHigh/Training/AcesHighTrainingByPeabodyPage01Full.htm

They start very basic (how to download the program), but they advance step-by-step until at the end you should be quite comfortable with all of the fundamentals.

There are also some great resources on the "Help" page of the hitechcreations.com website (Under the "Support") tab.

The AH Wiki is also pretty good, but some of the information is a little out of date. Check for it here:

Again: WELCOME!

Hey F35! Good to have you here!

BTW, I think as you delve into it, you will see that there is no comparison between this and a console flight game. Not because console games are inferior, or the developers weaker, but because the control set up available for the PC with a stick, rudder, throttle and keyboard is much richer than you can find on a console controller.

Console games are forced then to simplify flight models because you don't have control along 3 axes. That generally means no gravity, no yaw, simplified view systems, etc.

The better controller set up leads to a much richer game experience that comes closer to the real thing. Throw in the fact that your opponents will be real thinking people with some real skills and its much more challenging.

So the best advice I can give you is to mostly forget anything you learned on the console and try to start afresh. :) It will work a lot better for you.

ya i use to play the ace combate games for the ps2, but i was watching the history channel and they showed this on there, so i figured i would come here, and i saw there was a two week trial, after the two week trial was up i stopped playing because the old computer i was on quite working, now i have a job and i can pay for the monthly fee, but i love this game from day one, like u said much more fun then a console game, and every one i have meet are pretty friendly.

F35Raptor,

I'm normally available in the TA after 9 central time during the week.  If I'm not with a student already I'd be glad to help you, or you can just PM me and we can set up a time later this week.

I have to say that there's nothing like getting help in the TA.  It's invaluable and has improved my game immensely.  That and the posts that show up here.  :airplane:

I'm normally not in the TA during the weekends but if I see you on before squad time (8 central), I'll work with you for a bit.  If not shoot me a PM and I can schedule something for Wed or later, already got monday and tues filled.
