Is there a win2k equivalent of msconfig.... got things starting up I don't need....

Windows 2000 lacks this feature unfortunately.  :(

There is hope though, you can get the msconfig.exe from a windows 98 system and it will work in windows 2000.  (It gives a couple error messages, but will work.)

The only other option is modifying the registry manually.  (Msconfig is doing this for you.)

A good tool to tweak out system settings is xsetup. It boasts all the options in msconfig and a hundred or so more..
