Have you ever heard of this 109 variant i haven't ????

Have you ever heard of this Bf - 109 Variant as i havent i have only heard of the 109e to the K4 as the last variant   :headscratch: :headscratch:





I found it as a model kit when i was searching eBay for a new model kit to build :)

( Hitech's going to hate me now :lol as if its done some combat service in WW2 Bf-109 Fans will want it if its any good :)  )

Bf109T

Designed for carrier use.  Used as land based fighters. That particular one is from 10./JG11 Hegoland Staffel.  The pilot was shot down and killed by Bud Andersen.

First B17 kill of the war was by a Bf109T.

It's an emil with a tailhook, not late war.

I'd like to see a German carrier based plane.

Bullet, if you know anything about the 109's you would be able to tell that it is quite early in the evolution of the air frame. Clipped wings, stubby nose, non-hemispherical spinner, non-Erla Haube canopy, horizontal stabalizer support struts, wing mounted cannons, shallow oil cooler, and an early supercharger intake.

Yes i did notice that BrownBaron but it was its designation that threw me as all main Luftwaffe planes are like Bf-109d - Bf-109K4 and so forth so it being a Bf-109T-2 kinda threw me :)  So it must be the Bf-109E or F with upgraded engines and wep for the potential carriers the German Navy requested but never received due to some decision by Hitler ???? :)

In the future, keep in mind that Google is your best friend for gathering information.

I believe we should google it as if it was also land based but carrier borne capability's. But may have seen action from land bases. Thus we may get it in the game be cool like :)

I don't think it would really matter whether or not it was ever used in land based operations, it would still make a nice addition to the carrier planes.

And you won't see it in game regardless of it's combat record.  The T is not modeled and the emil template does not work.

Seems like I remember reading that the surviving 109Ts were de-navalized' and finished out their careers in Norway.

Because of the extended-span wings (and spoilers), the T-1 and T-2 could make very short take-offs and landings  These were used by I./JG77 at Sola and Herdla in Norway and by 11./JG11 on Heligoland in the North Sea.  Basically an E-1 (DB601A engine) with E-3 guns and those longer wings.  Likely to be a bit heavy, in fully navalized form.
