Saitek X36 Replacement Parts?
« on: June 28, 2001, 08:45:00 AM »
Need the parts around the hat switch (the 4 pressure switches that surround the hat's base) and was wondering if they make replacement parts for the joystick?

I'm not sure if I'd need to replace the whole board or not (the one in the top of the joystick)... but if someone knows a site I can go to for Saitek replacement parts (cheap), I'd appreciate it.
Thanks!

Is it a small rectangular switch with a small round black pressure switch? I think Radio Shack carries that one.

Yeah, it's four of them placed like so:
>_
|_|
EDIT: The > is so the _ will be placed closer to the center of that "box".

Through the center of that box is the hat's "rod"(I guess that's what you'd call it) that presses the pressure point on each of those switches to produce an output.

So it looks like suatering time then, thanks Eagler! Will check out Radio Shack this weekend.

Thanks again!

SW,
Had the same thing happen to my Saitek.  Ofcourse, if Eagler would watch my six more, I wouldn't wear out my hat switch  :)

Anyway, I have to try to do the same.

My hat switch has lost the forward left and right views, real pain in the bellybutton for the ol SA.

If you get it fixed SW, be sure to let us know how it went...

I had lost the front right view on my 1st USB X36 so a work around was I put those two views (LF & RF) on the 4 way hat on the throttle next to ur index finger (the oval jobbie) corresponding to the left - right action of it. Got so used to it, when I replaced it I programmed them there on the new hotas too. Made it easier as the views keep jumpin around when those two spots had views on the main 8way on the jstick.

AH absolutley kills Saitek hat switches.

I lost the right rear, and back view on my hat, so I removed the hat and used the one on top to the left. It was a bit of a stretch but I got used to it. Finally I just said f$k it and ordered a new one this week.

You used to be able to send them back and they would fix or ship you a new one, but not anymore I dont think. Refurbished they are $39 so just order a new one when they get near failure.

Anyways, I disassembled the stick to look at how hard the pots for the hat switches would be to change. Hmmm, don't look good.

I do now have a spare slightly destroyed usb combo for parting out if you need something.

Same boat as Creamy err Creamo

I'm ordering a refurbished one tonight.

Been using my MSFF for a joystick, and my Saitek throttle, plus the CH Pro Rudders, but man, the MSFF has alotta slop around the center, every MS I've ever owned is twiggy around the center, dunno why.
