Controller ID's

I am running a Saitek X36 combo USB and CHProducts PRo Pedals USB.

When I reboot, WINME assigns the rudders in ID#1, and the Saitek in ID#2.

Unfortunatley, that means AH thinks the rudders are my main controller (I guess cuz they are in ID#1) and it screws everything up.

I have to MANUALLY assign Saitek to ID#1 every reboot so AH knows to assign the proper joystick axis.

Someone please tell me how to stop this terribly annoying controller issue.

Which one is in the first USB controller? I believe that's how it assigns it.

It would be the top controller.

When you change the controller ID assignments, it only holds during that session and when you reboot or power down your system and power up again it goes back to the old way?

Very wierd, it should hold it's assignment. Is there any assignment stuff in the drivers that is forcing the pedals to ID1?

Creamo, just change the mappings in game.  That way, if your system is so stubborn that it HAS to have the CH pedals first, AH is ready to play.  I think my CH pedals are first, because that's what's listed first in AH.  I'll check the game controller file.

what system do you have?
I have win98 SE running on an Athlon 900 on an Asus A7M.  I've had the problem of the game controller not being happy as to which one goes first before.  Might be interesting to see if we have the same hardware...

Well, I've not tried this yet, but it should work. Drop by the CH website
and pick up the "Combo Driver" package. Unplug the pedals and don't plug
them in again until all this is done. Run the install for the Combo Driver
package. Once that's installed, you'll have a utility called "CHDelete.exe"
that's like NukeUSB. It's in the program group that the install sets up, or
you can look in:

\Program Files\CH Products\Pro Pedals USB

Run it and have it delete the pedals.

Once the deletion is complete, restart Windows. After the restart, your X36
should be on ID#1 since the pedals are still unplugged. Plug the pedals in,
you should get a "New Hardware Found" dialog, let it run. Once that's done,
you should be set. The pedals should be on ID#2 and they should stay there
through a restart.

Hey Creamo, I managed to fix my problem without using the combo driver.  I downloaded the newer CHUSB.inf file from CH.  I wiped out the CH pedals in the system devices.  I copied the install disk to a folder, and replaced the old inf file with the new one and ran the install from the hard drive.  rebooted, plugged in the pedals, and they were set on ID#2, and stayed there through reboots. (it still reads as HID compliant device in system devices, even though the info on the new inf file said it'd change the name to CH Pro Pedals.  Game Controller Info has it correct tho)  I think what happens is whatever controller is installed LAST goes to #2 (or beyond if you have more than 2.)  My problems started occuring when I reinstalled the Saitek drivers, without uninstalling the CH Pro Pedals.  After that, CH would always be #1 on bootup.  After wiping the pedals out, and reinstalling them, they're back to #2 behind the Saitek.

Hope this helps if the combo driver doesn't.  Though the combo driver WILL help because it requires you to completely remove the pedals.
