CH USB Yoke and USB Pedals
« on: July 09, 2001, 02:04:00 AM »
Im thinking about picking these up real soon. Anyone flying with them right now? Can I have your opinions please. Im lefthanded and trying to hold these flight sticks steady with my right hand while zoomed is near impossible for me. I hoping this yoke will keep me steady.

Last time I checked mine (USB, 3 throttle thing) the hat was on the right hand side - you might get probs with viewing control. I also found that while yoke was fine for buffs and Cessnas it was not particularly good for dogfighting. Not enough/separated buttons (left/right handles) force you to use keyboard a lot but since there's no free hand (both usually do something like checking views/firing etc) you find yourseld really stuck  :(. I use it for FS2000 only now.

Try unisex Cyborg from Saitek - it's reversible...

I urge you to learn to fly with your right.  They don't make left-handed airplanes.   :)

I have read nothing but glowing reviews on the Flight Sim Yoke USB.  And I know some guys with the Pro Pedals USB who really like them.

Thanks for the input guys. You got me thinking.I will stay with a stick. I was reading some threads on this forum and I'm getting interested in the Saitek X45 due out next month.  http://www.viaweb.com/saitekusa/fligcon.html
Heck I already play all my guitars right handed why not continue on with the flight sticks.

Take this advice from the guy who wrote the original Aces High Saitek profile for the USB x36 combo throttle and stick.

Don't buy the Saitek if you can afford to buy the CH USB gear.

Saitek does not provide support for their products as is evidenced by the Ron Hunt help pages. As you probably know even Ron gave up on Saitek and closed down his page.

The Saitek software is prone to lots of bugs, and to work correctly will try to start up with your computer using resources. Over the year that software has caused my computer to lock up on boot up, corrupted my Internet Explorer, and now will not automatically enable my stick whenever I choose a game.

I purchased the new CH USB throttle and a 565 stick to go with my pedals. There is no comparison between the two products. Choose CH. The only thing you might want to wait for is the new CH USB stick coming out with a bunch of 8 way hats etc. The USB stick out now only has 4 way hats, but you do get an 8 way on the new throttle.

Read my post up a few on this thread started by SB for a longer opinion about these products.

Do yourself a favor, spend the extra on the CH USB gear and use it forever.
