Hitting a seagull on final and only pissing it off

Yes, no joke. Student was driving - he did it and still landed. Video is still processing at the moment, but should improve in the next hour or so. Is in full HD.

doesnt look like a hit nor that it went near the prop. I see a bird that was with its pals on the runway... gets spooked by the plane, flies parallel direction to the plane and gets overtaken by the plane (not nose area but more like on the middle of the right wing) and it swerves into the fuselage but at the last moment reversed its flight and pulled out of a direct hit with the plane and used its feet to bounce off. Not through the prop but just behind the right side window of the cabin.

Look at it using pause/play to see the birds flight path. Better yet if the vid owner would put the video in slow-motion we could get a better view.

That camera is nice.  Do we see the same seagul again at the very end of the video laying just on the starboard side of the runway centerline?  If so "pissed off" isn't exactly the term I would use to describe his current state

A bit when he hit, so he felt it.

That seagull needs to spend some time in the TA - he had nowhere near enough separation for the lead turn.

Alex, I'm glad you two are ok as it's not really a laughing matter.   That camera is absolutely amazing!  1080p on a 23" WS is a joy.    But that seagull hit, thank God it hit where it did.   Kudos to the student as well for a good landing.

hey that camera is unbelievable, I am going to have to get one for a headcam.

Do you think you would have been ok if it hit the prop?

Looked like it could have been costly to repair but the landing should have still been quite possible?
