Did you know that the car in that movie is the same 55 in American Graffiti....the one Harrison Ford drives. I read that a while back in HotRod magazine.

http://kathyschrock.net/graffiti/55.htmit gives a pretty good detail of the 55, when you first posted about the 55 being the same car i was confused, I thought "Graffiti" was filmed later, and i was right, but there were 3 "55's" and they did change out the doors as well as a few other things, I knew i did not see the motor in "graffiti" and thought the story called for a 310,(327/ 283 cross),, the same motor my dad had in his 55 Chevy that ran mid 11's in the late sixties!
they never showed the car motor in the second movie leading me too think they rebuilt the car after "Graffiti" for two lane, but the dates did not work and Hollywood does do some strange stuff so it now makes perfect sense!
