MS and Digital Stick possible fix!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
« on: November 13, 1999, 12:22:00 AM »
I was setting up my stick again in .38 and noticed a new graph in the Joystick setup screen.  I also noticed that I had flat lines on everything but my throttle.  I had multiple micro spikes on my throttle without touching the stick.  I dampened the throttle 100% and the line went flat.  After doing this I flew in the arena and it seemed like the "You are moving the controls to rapidly" errors diminished.  Is the throttle part of the stick stirring subroutine??  Could these microspikes be affecting the subroutine?

I have a MS Force feedback and have been getting these errors while chasing guys.  So I know its to sensitive!  Please experiment with this and respond to the post.  This needs to be resolved or we are going to lose a lot of MS joystick players.  Its really hard to play.

The throttle is not part of the stick stir stuff. But make sure you check that graph with your eng running also. The sound's can effect your joystick input.

 Yentl. Fly slow. I fly spit because its the slowest. If i fly faster planes i keep the flaps down. If i keep my speed below 300 I dont get the message. If i cant take it and go after a p51, or a 109, as soon as he starts stirring the stick around. I auger. I am getting better at hitting them before i lock up though  .

Werewolf;
 Is your PPro a USB model? I was trying to adapt mine to usb, and discovered that sticks w/Product ID code numbers starting with: 97462-(barcode on base) aren't USB compatable.  Product ID's starting with:85791- ARE USB models.

 My problem is BOUNCE! If I fly any fighter straight n level, Turning at high speed or low, as if I were flying a 777 on finals at Hong-Kong intn'l. I have no problems (or lifespan).  But if I attempt to engage an enemy, even under ideal condititions, When I pull(squeeze) the trigger I poke holes in the sky all around him! And very soon after that, Spin, auger, or get shot down.

 I first passed it off to 'Heavy Handedness',
When that wasn't it, I went to stick settings (about 50 different combos) And one thing I discovered was: If I use NO DEADBANDS, and less than 50% Dampening on any setting; It helps!! But I still have to use the 'B' key to fire weapons if I want any chance of survival at all.

 I've tried different sticks, and gameports as well. The only positive improvement came from using an old 'Wingman extreme' analog (gag).

 Also not using the profiler seemed to help a little, but I'm not sure yet. I sure hope someone has an idea that won't cost me another 'C'Note

 Thanks In advance!
