His name is EARL
« on: August 30, 2010, 12:38:54 PM »
Hurricane Earl just missed us here in St. Croix.Looks like St.Thomas,St. John and the BVI might not be so lucky. We still have power and a lovely occasional 50mph wind gust.I've been in the U.S. Virgin Islands for 20 years so Hurricanes are nothing new to me.Earl might be hitting the east coast for labor day.Hope it misses you and your last weekend of summer is storm free.See you in the AH sky soon if I have internet service for TT.  :salute

Earl is likely to miss the entire eastern seaboard as it is tracking towards Cape Hatteras and the high pressure over New England will be pushing it out to sea

Watching the weather now...looks like they coming one right after the other. Gonna be a busy peak of the season. Hopefully they all stay mostly out in the Atlantic.     :pray

Yup, gonna be an active late season, that is for sure.

Danielle went by to our east and Earl went by to the west...hopefully the next one isn't between the two 'cause we'll get whacked and I have put waaay too much work into my garden this year to have it messed up by a hurricane.

Our squadron and a few others are on alert for this week and next. Sent half of the birds west to high ground. The other half are staying here with crews for hopefully no rescues needed. We've got a crew out on the U.S.S. Bush, they were supposed to come in this week, but their gonna have to ride out Earl out in ocean.

Depending on where their staying, the southern part of Cape Hatteras already has water reaching the only road in and out.

The bridge connecting the southern part as a safety record of 4 out of 100, already has water reaching the end of one side, should be interesting to see if it makes it.
