Favre just loves to play the game and he wants to win big. I don't see why everyone should go after him just because he's the oldest player in history.... (Is that correct)?

I really don't see how Favre can come back at the tail end of training camp, play a couple series in pre-season games and expect to be sharp against the World Champions.   But, he surprised me last year and I am rooting for him.   Big questions still with Vikes' receivers, with Harvin's migraines and Sidney Rice out with hip injury.

Adrian Peterson should be pretty anxious to run the ball at them, though.

Favre is an ego/money hound.

Isn't that a requirement to be a professional athlete?  In the vast spectrum of things Favre is a class act.

Favre is an ego/money hound.

I guess thats why he turned down the  20 mil offered by the Packers  not to play last year.

And think about it. for all the claims of Favre being an ego hound or a drama queen. The only ones generating/creating the drama have been the media. Not Favre.

That being said. Win or loose I just home the Vikes issue some paypack in the pain dept for some of the dirty hits NO made last year.
Unfortunately the Saints released Bobby McCray so the payback will have to be enforced elsewhere. I wouldnt have minded seeing him receive some nice ACL damage

Really. In the spectum of things this year in particular. Its been the media generating all the hype and the stories. they even created their own name for it "The Favre Watch" a term they coined right after last season.
I cant blame Favre for not being sure if he is comming back from year to year. Particularly the last several years. I defy anyone here over say 26 to go out and play a game of football this weekend. then come back here and tell us how your body feels. The last time I played I was 30 and at that time I was probobly in the best shape of my life, and afterward was barely able to walk for almost a week.

I cant even begin to imagine what that feels like at 37+. And then to do it for a full season? At some point you gotta be saying. "what the hell am I doing this for?"
As you get older it takes longer and longer for things to heal
Yet summer rolls around and you start feeling like your supposed to be doing something. You miss the comraderie and being part of something. Being part of a team is something special. that unless you've been a part of one you just cant explain.
Then you miss the game. The competition. going against the best which is something AH players can relate to. As a player, who doesnt relish a chance to go against the best players here? to pit your skills against theirs and see how you do?

It aint for the money. He's already has more money then he possibly needs. and can still make plenty and not get battered around like a punching bag every week.
Naa. At this point he's doing it because he flat out loves it. And because he still can. Time will come when he cant anymore. But he can go out with no regrets that he left when he was still able to perform.

Yea, Ego may to some extent be a part of it. But all great players, just like great fighter pilots also have great egos.
then again he can still get his ego stroked outside playing the game and not get battered around.

No. He loves the game

Favre watch was actually older than that.  I'm not sure when exactly it was coined, but you watch the highlights from the NFL network from 2007 @ nfl.com/videos and they use it on the Gameday Highlight clips, referring to him breaking records (see Week 4 against the Vikings).

I agree with Drediock that its not about the money.  I just wish he had more team loyalty.  I think ever since XXXII when he saw Elway near retirement and winning two super bowls he's really gotten an itch to win another.  But I'll give Elway more respect for staying a Bronco all that time more than winning that last super bowl.

IMO a big part of it is that he doesn't want to leave on a losing season. Last season was not a loser for the Vikes even though they didn't win the conference and go to the Super Bowl. Notice also that this year's rule changes made to the game include alterations to overtime rules which have been in effect since I can remember. A team cannot win in overtime w/ a field goal. They must win w/ a TD. If last years NFC conference game were to play out this year, the Vikes would have gotten another possesion and a chance to score a TD for the win. If both teams score FGs then it goes to sudden death. Alot of people can say what they want, but IMO an overtime win is an overtime win no matter how it was done.

N.O. shocked the world and the game, so much so they had to change the rules to fit what would have been a win for the other team....

I cant take anything away from NO for winning the game. Lord knows the Vikes had their chances and it shouldnt even have been close.
Without the fumbles. There is no overtime There is no 12 men on the feild penalty and there is no interception

The only objections I have about N.O. Are the dirty hits, by namely Bobby McCray And some of the calls and non calls by the officials. One of  McCray's bad hits would have given Min a 1st and 10 on the NO 19 yard line had it been called correctly

McCray was later fined for the hits but it is a classic example of too little too late. Favre to his credit has refused to comment negatively on either hit

As for the upcoming game I offer no prediction to the outcome. Vikes are short on Wide receiver and more importantly, at corner back due to injuries. So the advantage will probably be in NO favor
