I really do, I just can't stand cats. Sorry hangtime, but as far as I am concerned they are good toys for my dog and that is about it.
That is what I would have said for many years, but in just the past few weeks we acquired on that is changing my opinion of cats. He is just a couple of months old and his name is "Lighting". What else would a dedicated P-38 driver call his cat? Almost called him "banana" after our head CM, but the kids preferred "Lighting".

It is all my wife's fault. She is the one who dragged me into the store, (with all the kids) thrust this bundle of purring fur into my hands and said "Isn't he cute"!? Thirty bucks and ½ hour later he is running around our house driving our "other" 4 year old cat nuts.

That other cat loves my wife and kids, but just tolerates me as I do her. More than once I have given her flying lessons, but never to serious injury. Just to what ever pride cats think they inherently acquire.
Lighting though just keeps wanting to play with the older cat, but she will not. He will stalk her and then pounce! She will arch, hiss and chase, but only for a few feet. I watched this go on for 20 minutes this morning to my great pleasure. I think he will drive her crazy in a few months.

Lighting would make a better dog that a cat, and I am considering raising him as one. I might as well. You see, those two will never get along. No way. Not possible.
Let me explain. Being the "daddog" in this little dog pound gives me the authority to name the animals in our home. That other cat never would have made it in our door had not I been able to name it. I remember telling my wife these words exactly, "You can keep him, but I get to name him". She agreed. I did not hesitate. Her name is "Zeke".
