Simple Web Design Software

Trying to find something that can get a legitimate 3 or 4 page small business site put together that will look professional.  I know having a designer do it is optimal, but I don't want to drop the cash for that yet.  I have the domain and hosting set up, so I'm looking for recommendations from folks that have used various programs.  And when I say web design software, I'm not talking about Dreamweaver--just one of those cheesy pre-packaged deals that are $50-100 or whatever.  There are several listed on Amazon, but the recommendations are inconsistent across the board.  This will be a short term solution until I'm ready to drop the money on a really nicely designed site.

Hi Mate, I was in the same boat as you, I used moonfruit.com, you can create the website for free, then transfere it to a domain if you desire.

Try installing Wordpress 3.0.1 on your site. Quite a few people are now using also as a CMS and there are a lot of different free themes out there. Many of them are easy to modify and customize just via CSS and HTML modifications.

Thanks for the recommendation GD, but that program has kicked my butt over the weekend.  I'm guessing I don't know enough to use it efficiently yet.  I'm probably going to try something a little more dumbed-down for now.  Perhaps once I've been around it longer, I can use it to build subsequent content.

Get the eval copy of Dreamweaver and make it happen...it doesn't take long to get the hang of it and you can have a bunch of sweet looking pages in just a few hours.

+1 on Dreamweaver.  Never worked on a site before, acquired Dreamweaver, followed the tutorial step-by-step, and it was game on after that.  Great program.
