AI Pilots for Missions
« on: September 10, 2010, 02:33:01 PM »
I would like to add AI pilots to missions. (I.e. if a human pilot hasn't shown up, a AI pilot takes their place.)  Waypoints would be needed of course with actions... :)

This ability would be limited to SEA/AvA Arena Admins or those delegated in the MA.

The only downside I see to this is that the AI isn't all there.  :lol  Otherwise, this could make for some fun times.  :aok

You're right but they're perfect for large formations of enemy bombers/JABO.

Yeah, this was a Tour of Duty idea.

An ENTIRE combat box of AI 17's with pinpoint bombing accuracy with the Players as fighter escorts. THAT WOULD BE EPIC WIN!!

Like say for a scenario in AVA, you launch a horde of AI 17s, say there is a 20 formation limit, you set way points and formation they adopt (combat box at 10,000 for ex) and then players up fighters to cover them.

Then the other team ups 109s and 190s and flies over the top of them, then let the chaos begin!!!

Hmmm...perhaps this would be good for scenario usage.

In the MA it would be a fighter pilots dream.  Unless the AI bombers had really good AI gunners on board.

Here is a way it could be used for base capture missions in AvA.

Alternating AI missions for both sides where any joining player replaces one AI pilot. The troop transports won't drop troops if they are AI, only if a human player replaces one.

Capturing a base will require human players to clean up any targets the AI bombers miss and to deploy troops.

If a base is captured, that sides AI missions are disabled and they are subject to repeated AI attacks until one of their bases is captured. It continually alternates this way to keep the AI aided base captures equal, so as not to pork the map.

Players could choose to capture a base, defend one, or escort the bombers.

This would run independently of any other player activity that was going on in the arena, but would always provide something to do in there.

I was just thinking more about this and all the possibilities and why it would be perfect for AvA.

In an arena with two enabled countries, AI could be the third country and you could send massive attack waves against both of the other countries.

In a no enemy Icon environment, you would be going into battle never knowing what you were up against, adding to the uncertainty and "fog of war."

There are just so many ways it could be used to enhance and augment a human player arena.

The best is for huge bomber formations.

The possibilities are endless.

If they could ever work out GV AI, think of the armored columns we could deploy.

I sure wish they would give CM's even a basic aircraft AI system, before they put it into the new H2H arenas.

Naw I like the multiplayer thingy not the r2d2 type of arena.  Would turn into a 262 only kill as many buffs as you can.

Not asking for an R2D2 arena. I could fly offline missions for that.

Asking for the capability to augment a multiplayer arena with large bomber formations for people to fly escort and interdiction for etc.
