CH Help
« on: September 02, 2001, 10:11:00 AM »
I have a CH f16 Fighterstick, CH Pro-Throttle, and TM RCS Rudder Pedals. The rudders are nearing 8 years old and the CH gear I got just after the '96 AW con in Florida. A few tweaks and overhauls here and there but they're still working.
The concern I have is with AH only, it seems that sometimes my views will stick and also I get a delay between when I pull the trigger and when the guns start firing. Also I get the "sticky" trigger which keeps the guns firing after I release the trigger and also after I drop a bomb or droptank and switch back to guns the secondary guns will be firing (from the "B" key).
I _could_ go in there and replace every mother-loving switch in the stick but I've had this thing apart last year when replacing the pots and it would prove to be quite a chore. I just want to know if anyone is having the same concerns and what, if anything, can be done about it.

Thanks in advance,

Lonz

I have the set running through a CH gamecard

Make sure this is a hardware problem instead of a software one. Do you have any antivirus programs running or on your system?
I found my problems were due to McAfee and had to disable it from boot start up.

I had a similar problem with CH Pro Throttle.  The "stuck" buttons weren't stuck.  It was just a software problem.  Some games did it and some games didn't.

If you have any buttons mapped to keystrokes on the CH rig, try changing the key repeat rate or delay to the extremes and see if that fixes it.

You can also play with any keyboard rate settings in your BIOS.

And you can try the Windows Control Panel key repeat rate setting too.

A true stuck firing button will have no click when depressed. Occasionally my f16 fighterstick would do this, usually after a tough fight where I had used all my tricks to line up one good shot, and I just squeezed the trigger waay too hard with all the adrenelin flowing. You eventually "spring" the plastic tabs that the button rests in, inside the handle. My semi-permenant fix was to hot glue the button in place, and learn to pull the trigger more gently.  :) If it is a problem with the buttons themselves, they are only $2.00 or so each on the website, and if you are not comfortable replacing them, go to a little corner television repair shop and have them repair it.

Hi DmdBT,

Not sure what drivers you're using but you might want to try these CH drivers.

I've found they work the best with the old Combat sticks.

Hope they help.

DMdBT:
I just had a problem with my CH F16 FS also. Was gonna send it in to CH Prods for repair. On a hunch, I hooked it up to my pro-throt again. (problem was I was getting no response from the stick when I pressed buttons; the pro-throt worked fine)
I reinstalled CHJOY drivers and re-installed speedkeys (with the CHF16FS drivers) and voila! The damned thing is working again.
I believe my problem is WinME and now I know in future if I have similar probs I will try the reinstall first.
