I like Shuff, he is an ok feller.  He just enjoys a way too narrow slice of the Aces High pie.  I'm cool with that. :aok

you'd be surprised. i've seen him in a gv. i might even have film.  :noid

i been trying to get him back into the ava, 'cause i think his first times kind of sucked...i think he got in on a bad night, not like the ones we've had in there the last few nights.

i think(and i could be wrong here) that he may also be thinking that with base taking in here, it's going to turn into another main arena, which i think(and hope) it will not do.

so far, the only horde i've seen in here, has been that big mixed ball of cartoon airplanes trying to shoot each other down. that brings me to a question. how the hell did a big fight get the nickname "furball"?

maybe tonight, i'll put on my sexy dress, and my cfm heels, to lure him in there.  :noid :neener: :D

First it is a Main Arena like all the others.  The difference is that it is an underpopulated, and underutilized Main Arena.  My hope is that some life will be breathed into the AVA through activities such as the planned whomping of the AVAR's.  No smarta** question here Cap:  Why enable GV's, bombers, ords, ack, and such if there is not a want/desire for these things to occur?  Mind you, I could care less either way, as I get my fill in the LWAs.

Way

well.....i think they should be enabled.

i think that if nothing else, they can be used to start a fight. a good one. there's been times that i've taken a tank to a base, and keep shooting at stuff, till some people start upping aircraft....then some friendly aircraft come in. then i ditch outta the tank, and come back to join in the fight in the air.

i realize this is a main arena just like the others. but there IS a difference. the biggest difference, is the atmosphere, and the attitude of the cartoon pile-its. in here, it's all about fun.

could you imagine how fast this arena would go down the pooper if a certain mw base rolling squad were to come in on a regular basis? they'd run the attitude right off the bottom of the scale with their antics.

the other night, i got rammed by rammey......it wasn't his fault, but rather mine, as i cut the turn too soon. the dude came on open channel, and apologized, AND exited the fight. i didn't expect either........but they were appreciated.
i ho'd twizzty, but thought he was going away. soonz i realized the mistake, i broke off. apologized to him, and he didn't care.......no bs there.

the point is that the atmosphere is a good one in here.

oh yea.....if you're flying 38's against 109f's...........beware.  :devil

shuffler's a great guy.....he's good to fly with and against.

in fact, the only bad thing i can find about him so far, is that he bought his daughter a chevy, rather than a real car.  :neener: :noid

well it will build leg muscles what with her pedaling all of the time

Yeah Cap, With the exception of two AVA regulars, all have displayed a great attitude.  With that said, it's about the same ratio of good to bad apples in any arena.  The only difference in say the Late War arenas, is that ratio means there is probably 10-20 bad apples at any one time.

I am getting at the perception that if it's not in a fighter, then it's not a fight.  Maybe it's a difference in game experience or something.  I enjoy the whole pie that Aces High offers us:fighters, bombers, attack planes, GV's, PT boats, field guns, carrier guns, shore batteries, all of it.  The whole pie, not a narrow slice.  Some folks are only interested in the air-to-air aspect of the game.  This again is cool with me, but it is a definite limiter on the AVA.

This is why I think the AVAR's will truly have their hands full, because the Pigs will bring all the toys available into this event!  Get ready AVAR's!!! :x

well as Chalenge can attest to I'm not a GV'r but I'm willing to learn

Bottom line(s)  for me at least is

A) The fantastic attitudes of the AVA regs, Waystins crew, and some of the new blood that have poked their heads in lately.

B) No icons... hated it at first but found out it's a great equalizer for the less that great pilets like myself.  Tactics have to evolve a bit and we're there to be a part of it and learn from it.

C) The challenge of of changing environment.  Night fighting is dang interesting.

D) The camaraderie of most of the people who enjoy the arena.  If somebody on my 'side' is gaming the game I'll cheerfully hang them out to dry.  Oh gosh you got picked what a pity...

E) Switching sides for balance.  I used to HATE being assigned to axis iron or EW planes.  Now I look forward to the challenge of not only learning to use them but survive in them and, hopefully, get some scalps in them.  I've even developed a fondness for the 109 that I never expected to embrace. When I log on the first thing I check is 'roster' if it's 5 to 4 I jump to the 4 side even if I'm not familiar with the vehicles assigned.  I see that a lot of other guys do this as well.

F) The fact that the AVA team plays with us, listens to us, and solicits our input.  They can't do everything for everybody and that's a given but they are constantly trying to improve our gaming experience.  (I'd like my aamrams now thanks)

G) And lastly getting acquainted with people who I've seen on the boards but never flown with / against.

Ah cut Shuff some slack Jimson, it's hard to deal with the Pigs total package! :aok

Shuffler is cool by me, I just think the playing styles can complement each other rather than be mutually exclusive.

the dar was porked on both sides of the furball.

I know but that shouldn't have eliminated the DAR bars...only the dots.

the twin rivers map does some screw things sometimes. the darbar is one of the problems. it comes and goes.

on a lighter note, Death to the pigs, only 1 day to go!!!!

Thanks guys!

I'm honestly humbled by the comments.

I'd like to clear up a couple of misconceptions/ misunderstandings. I have been into the AVA a few times and had an absolute great time except for the last. That was maybe 2 weeks back. Two times I upped only to be HO'd when I was outnumberd 3 vs 1 and then 4 vs 1. It made me hope we were not bringing in the wrong folks. More likely, as Cap said, a bad night.

I do not mean the AVA is not any good. The AVA is a great place with a great setup. Jaeger and the staff are hard at work on making it the place to be. I am in full support of their efforts.

Not every event held in there will be what everyone is looking for. You just can't please everyone. It is completely unimportant if I like it or not. The AVA needs the different events to interest everyone at one time or another. I won't be there for every event.... that does not mean I do not support the Staff's efforts. These folks take time out of their flying to work on setting up events so that we may fly, drive, float all the time.

A really big thanks to the AVA Staff!!

I can't speak to the HO's and such, but having the Shuffler in attendance is politely requested.  Further, don't think I did not see you in that SDK last night.  You're practicing for Tuesday aren't you Shuff? :D
