CH fighter stick probs with trim
« on: January 14, 2000, 11:19:00 AM »
I programmed a couple different buttons to trim my elevators, only trim up (k key) works, when I toggle to trim down (i key) it does not work.  I confirmed that the buttons work by programming the key to change rudders, and it worked, it's only the Elev Down that won't work..any clues?  I really need this trim down for the FW!

Strange.  I use a hat on my CH Pro throttle to trim elevator, and it works fine.  I believe the Pro throttle and Fighterstick program the same way.  Mine is programmed as a "macro" with "hold until released" checked.

Did you verify that the hat is sending "i",  using Speedkeys test function?  You should also be able to send to a text editor.

Did you verify that you can control the elevator with the "i" key from the keyboard?

(Obvious stuff -- but I've done worse.)

Nice to see other CH-Pro folks out here.  Trim works great on my Pro-Throttle w/F16 Combat stick and Pro-pedals.

Deffinetly test the settings... SAVE-LOAD-TEST!  In that order.

im having some trouble with my ch pro throttle and F16 fighter stick and pro pedals. before i get started i just got them both back from ch and had all the chipset and boards replaces and updated to the 1v1.23 versions.
i use the speedkeys to program the throttle/stick and was instructed by several ppl to use macro and check hold til release.
My views stick when in the snap mode if i move the hat switch around to fast and the trim controls work real erratic ,as in if i  ajust rudder to the right the trim just keeps going right even after i let off the switch.
i tried programing the views and trim to several different hats and buttons but keep getting the same results from throttle or joystick.
system specs
GATEWAY
WIN98
PIII 500
128 meg ram (pc100)
NVIDIA RIVIA 16 MEG VIDEO (3.08 drv.)
PCI64 D SOUND (using this for game port)
13 GIG SCSI HD (free mem 9 gig )
DX 7.0A
speedkeys 1.6b

Ahh. So here is the Pro pedal, Pro Throttle and F16 fighterstick clique
I use a CH Gamecard 3 so if you use the sound card port you may not have a smooth setup. It may be spikey and erraticly fast/slow. A Gamecard can be one of the best items you'll ever purchase for flying and gaming.

Anyway. Same stuff here but NO problems - except when setting views on a new aircraft for the first time. Then I have ti use the keyboard as there is something about the CH stuff that hoses the view systme in AH when customizing them.

Robert, in Speed keys under your SPEED tab try these settings:

Delay: set towards SHORT end. Setting .3
Rate : set towards FAST end. Setting 22
MAX Keys: set all the way to FAST. Setting 25

I can send you my Speedkeys file if you like and you can customize it for yourself.

p.s. I just realised who Robert is.  HI!

Thanks for the reply WESTY !
i can't seem to get this working at all
i tried all the settings you suggested and
talked to the tech at ch as well. they say the jcenter # are right on so the sound card is fast enuff but not to fast either.
only other thing i can think of is alot of other ppl been having popping sound with the WIN98 and the sound card i have when they use the AH . it has to be the game port !!!
i would attach the jcenter bmp if i knew how but can't get the img command to work. :-(

Well no idea so I sent you my Speedkeys file anyway. If my file works then compare what you set up with mine to get things to work. Or redo mine to suit yourself.

If it does not work I am out of ideas for you  other than the stick itself or your PC hardware/setup.

p.s. not included in my email was that the two 4-way hats below and to the lower left from the 8-way hat on the joystick are my trim controls. The lowest 4 way hat does auto level (down), auto angle(up) or will do elevators manually (left and right). The one right below the red button B1 is for manual aileron trim (up/down) and manual rudder trim (left/right) The 4-way hat halfway down on the left side of the joystick will do prop rpms when they become enables and two other things I forget right now. Good luck!

Robert,

Did you try other speed settings.  I'm using the same hardware as Westy, but my settings are much different:

Repeat delay = 2.0
Repeat rate = 2
Maximum key = 5

I find that faster settings don't work on my system.  Worth a shot, if you haven't already tried adjusting these.

This may be a shot in the dark, but are you using a TNT or TNT2 video card?

Yep, everyone who is using these is having problems. Mine would "freeze" the controls from time to time. for seconds at a time. My suggestion is before doing anything else pick up another video card and see whether or not it changes things. I was pulling out my hair thinking I had a screwed joystick port but in the end it was just the TNT card.

I've used both STB TNT and Dynamite TNT2 with my setup (CH Pro throttle, F-16 Combatstick, CH Pro pedals), with no problem.

Diamond Viper 770 TNT2 Ultra here. No problem.

One odd note is though my mother board has an AGP slot on it but I am not sure if it really is an AGP slot and not just a PCI slot rigged to be an "AGP" port.  I do not have AGP support checked in my Diamond/TNT2 settings and it does not give me the option to either. It stays grayed out.

Robert try unchecking "AGP support" in your graphics settings ans see what happenes...
