I think having a clip board option to adjust formations while in flight, would be better vs only the dot command option.  To adjust distance while in flight, however, I think it would be better with just the dot command.  I drool at the idea of being able to select what formation to use with my bombers...*drools* :x

Is it your opinion that aircraft out of formation blew up doing WWII?   That they just simply exploded and would ‘t have attempted to reform?
I believe he was referencing the idea of having the aircraft return to base and auto-gunned without being piloted. The explosions you refer to generally happen when the drones collide with something, it's not arbitrary explosions because they got separated. In general your suggestions are bad ideas mainly because the return to base option with auto-guns is gamey and the exploding drones can be avoided. The drones already attempt to rejoin the formation as part of the program, no extra commands are needed.

The drones that get separated from the lead aircraft explode based on distance or colliding with something, but distance is a factor.  I really don’t think the drones flying back to base is any more gamey then drones flying formation with no pilots.  It ‘s all kinda gamey , don’t you think.

I have no idea what the distance would be for the drones to explode. Last time I saw something hinky with a bomber drone there was one stuck on the side of a hill at a base and the guy who took the bombers up was a full sector away...yes I saw it and had to ask on country who left the drone on the hill.

It is all kinda gamey true, but do we really want to add to it with auto-guns and long range remote commands?

Another way to say this: "I don't want to be a bomber commander, I just want to fly bombers."

You hijacking this thread with something like that, is easy to get burned on.  No matter how you slice it, that is what your asking for..... No longer getting a DEATH for flying away from your drones.... That YOU are in command of, that YOU are responsible for bring home safely.

BACK TO THE THREAD..... +1

It seems as if you have never flown a bomber if your drones get more then 1k away from you, blamo theyexplode.

It seems that you know not of what you are speaking, I have flown bombers and not personally witnessed a drone explode due to distance from the primary plane, it has always been due to a collision with another object. If the drones explode when the primary plane is more than 1000 yards away, then it would be impossible for someone to have a drone stuck on the side of a hill while he is miles away, wouldn't it? Yet, you still find them.

heh  has NOthing to do with collisions-drone gets too far away, it blows up=) If you see a drone stuck on a hill, thats different, freaky bug stuff. In flight- its aboot 1000yards then BOOM                 elfy

Drone stuck on a hill happened when bomber came in to land. If you drop flaps and gear long the drones will  drop down and get stuck short of the runway sometimes.

And a drone sitting on the ground doesn't explode if the player rearms and goes out again, leaving the drone sitting there like a bit target.

You used to be able to land and take off again, leaving the drones. Then jump in one of the landed bombers guns. Made short work of towns :P
