Man, thats just not right......With a little luck they will all get canned. I know that sounds a bit harsh, but i would hate to see someone that does the right thing ( the opposite of what they are doing ) get hurt because someone cant wait for a beer or hit until after work.

Good undercover discovery and footage, but the way it was reported and served to us I give two-thumbs down.  I hope it leads to them firing those numbskulls and hopefuly trimming the fat at the plant, but something tells me their union will fight for them and land them hefty severances... which will buy them a lot more beer and more than a couple joints *sigh*.

I don't like the spin that the reporter who wrote the article put on all the employees at that plant and how it generaly devauled american workers making product in america... like the reporter thinks and would strongly preffer if we give the work out to a bunch of hard working asians or indians overseas... a shame, and not to bring this topic into the political realm, but I strongly felt the reproter was trying to slam Obama's speach and visit way too much, to the point that he inadvertently is throwing the "hard working american worker" under the bus.

My favorite line in the whole article, after the reporter degrades the average american worker, and presents the footage showing at most two-dozen previously-employed darwin award winners "....employs 2,833 union auto workers...".  Clearly a case of a few bad aples in a very large barrel.  I hope this doesn't bring anymore trouble or grief for those other 2,800+ genuine autoworkers doing their job, things are already pretty tough for them and their industry out there.

People are actually surprised by this? Lockheed Martin lunch hour it's not unusual for the closest beer stores raided at lunch time. And seeing someone come back to work glassy eyed is no surprise.  The higher end restaurants in that area are full of mid and upper level management tipping  few.  Bell Helicopter same story.  I used to have a couple of beers at lunch on Fridays but cut that nonsense out two or so years ago.  I'm not defending anybody getting impaired during their lunch hours or coming to work in that condition and I'm not saying that the majority of people that work in these places do it.  I'm just stating that it's a lot more prevalent than is obviously thought.

Now as was posted previously if punitive action is attempted on the people identified in the videos the unions will block it and they'll never lose a days pay.

Attempt to institute random breathalyzer tests after lunch?  You'll have the ACLU AND the unions so far up your rear it's not even funny.

Dich brings up a point I didn't even consider.  Quick rough survey here: if this was just a friday-only pre-weekend lunch tradition for this group of workers, how many poeple here would be less inclined to care?  I'm not gonna lie, I've only been working full-time for 10-years now and have had about a dozen bosses or clients already buy me a friday lunch after a succesful morning/week with more than just one beer to go with it, without asking me something more in-depth than "you drink beer?".
