Nonetheless??

A piece of history that you can touch, hold, and still use.

I think its pretty cool period!

I meant despite my naivete and clumsiness at presentation.

The story is his uncle brought them back and he let a 'friend' use them on a hunting trip several years ago.   When his 'friend' brought them back the left lens was fogged and the right lens was rotated (as you can see in the pics).  He suspects his buddy dropped them and put them back together, clumsily, and you can see the views through them now.

He's supposed to bring a rifle in soon.  I'll post pics if he does.

In to work? Ask him to wear a disgruntled facial expression as he walks in the door monday. That'll surprise a few coworkers.  :)

As for the binocs..very cool piece! Any chance you can trace that serial number back to a particular time and place? Perhaps even the unit/officer it was issued to? Again, very cool.  :)

I'm hoping for a bit of help from the community here in that regard (particular time and place).

As far as bringing guns to work at my office?  In the neighborhood where we are located you better have a couple ;).  Now if I brought a firearm in they might get a little nervous.  *grin*

While Dicho has this going, and in the event a German memorabilia expert chimes in...

My Dad has a Nazi flag that belonged to my Grandfather.  He (also a veteran), got it from a neighbor who was in the 82nd AB.  Now this flag is solid red, high-quality linen, about 5 feet X 4 feet, and has a small green felt rectangle in the upper corner closest to the grommets.  On the felt are two numbers that are embroidered in.  I'm assuming these are probably unit designations.  The swastika is on an off-white field that's probably 2 feet in diameter, and sown on both sides to the red field.  We want to frame it and donate it to a museum, but I was curious as to whether or not there are resources where I could find out what the numbers on the green felt patch designate?

Be sure to blur or cover the swastika so as not to get skuzzified.

Uhh, when people post pictures of aircraft they don't have to do that...  Is that necessary for real?

I took a look at the rules and thought rule 6, posting pornographic or generally offensive text, images[...], might apply to the flag but perhaps not.

No its not. Only posting a picture of an aces high plane with swastikas is against the rules.
